My trip went off without a hitch. Getting up at 4:15am and leaving the house at 4:45 was no fun and by the time I went to bed Wednesday night I had been up for over 18 hours, yikes.
My grandma's visitation and funeral were huge. She was a much loved lady. The visitation was scheduled from 5-7, but we opened the doors at 4:30 and the last person didn't get through until almost 9pm. And the funeral the next day had a pretty large turn-out as well. They had all of us grandkids as pall bearers. That was my, and all my other female cousins, first time being a pall bearer. It is no easy job, though coordinating footsteps with 4 people on each side was the hardest part. I think my grandma would have been laughing at us stepping on each others feet. :)
It was nice to see all my cousins and aunts and uncles again. I was there in Feb but only saw my grandma and one aunt since we just popped in real quick from my other grandmas funeral.
Now, as for the No-Fly list... ever since 9-11 Homeland Security has created a No-Fly list for potential terrorists. Evidentally there is a Christopher Johnson on this list which means that my Christopher Johnson gets caught every time he flies. :) It's not really a huge deal, but he can't check-in at one of the computer terminals, he has to be let through by a higher up agent behind the counters. There's paperwork that he could fill out to get himself removed, but it would be a pretty big ordeal so he's just learned to allow himself some extra time to check-in. I often book my ticket separate so that I can get through on my own. I did have the fun luck of being the "chosen one" as the TSA guy put it, to have my bags handchecked. It basically entailed 2 guys going through my bags by hand and swiping my shoes and such with little wipes that pick up explosives.
Anyway, I'm glad to be back home and finally able to catch-up on some sleep.
