I'm behind

I haven't blogged in awhile. I'm feeling so lazy and blah lately. So, today I'm doing a little catch-up post.

Ava's Art Show - this turned out to be a very busy day for me. I got a phone call at 1:45 in the morning from my neighbor. Her water had broken and I was her "child watch". Instead of having me go crash on her couch until morning though, they decided to bring their girls to my house (ages 5 and 2). Yeah, the 2 year old would not go back to sleep and was keeping her older sister up. I brought the little one downstairs where she stayed awake and wandered around until 5:30 when she finally passed out on the couch. I passed out right next to her, until I was woken up by Maddux at 6:30am. Not a good night for me. We had to leave for Ava's art show at 4:30 so we could catch the train downtown. I was prepared to take all 4 kids, but the baby finally arrived and their dad came and got the kids at 4.

We got to the artshow along with all the other kids and parents. It was so crowded it was crazy! I was so glad that Kevin and I had been up there to find Ava's art the week before. The room the art was in was really small and was packed to the gills with kids and parents. It would been a nightmare to find your kids art in the crowd. We knew exactly where to go though and made our way directly to her piece. The pictures are kinda crappy because I couldn't get more than a couple feet back from Ava and the wall.

Ava's piece was a family portrait. She added her cousin Ethan as well. When I asked about him she said something about having had drawn the Maddux person too tall so she needed another tall boy, which would be Ethan. She still mixed it up though, since she still labeled the tall boy Maddux and the shorter one Ethan. :) The kids all got to sit on a big stairway while someone (CMS art director, maybe?) gave a little speech. She also got a certificate. We ate out downtown, Jason's Deli in the Epicentre, Ava's choice, before catching the train back home. It was a nice evening despite my being exhausted.

Maddux's Last Day of 3's Preschool - My boy finished his first year of preschool. He's still my little momma's boy, but he has really changed and grown this year. I was so worried about him at the beginning of the year. He was so little and I didn't know if he would handle school. He did cry the first few weeks, but not for long and he liked his teachers and new friends. By the end of the year he was bounded into class barely noticing the good-bye from me. He went from not knowing any letters to knowing them all and being able to write his name (when he wants to anyway). It's so hard for me to imagine Maddux in the 4's program next year. I guess he'll just always be my baby.

Here's Maddux on his first day of school and his last day of school. I'd say he's grown up a bit.

Meals for the Week -
~ Monday (Memorial Day) we went out for BBQ. Neither of us felt like grilling out.
~ Tuesday - burgers on the grill, hot dogs for the kids, with tator tots, beans and mac n cheese. Kevin will take extra burgers for lunch at work
~ Wednesday - Papa Johns Pizza, Ava's school's spirit night, plus I have a 50% off coupon. Leftovers will feed the kids and I lunch Thursday and Friday
~ Thursday - breakfast: pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs
~ and that's all the farther I got. I need to come up with something simple for dinner on Friday

Change to the menu plan: Tonight (Thur) Kevin brought home O'Charley's for us and McD's for the kids. Breakfast will be tomorrow night.
