On Friday Ava had her Kindergarten End-of-Year program. All the kindergarteners got on stage and sang some cute songs. I'll have to admit I got ever so slightly teary when they sang a song about being ready for first grade. It's hard for me to believe that my baby girl is almost done with kindergarten! It's been a wonderful year for her, she has enjoyed school so much. Ava is looking forward to summer, but I think she's also a bit sad for school to be over.
After the big program we got to go to Ava's classroom where her class performed 2 little plays for us all. Ava was a penquin in the Tacky the Penquin play. They also sang some more songs and recited a couple of books. It was cute. After that we got to eat lunch with the kids picnic syle in the classroom.
As a bonus, Ava got to leave school early and come home. Since it was early I took the kids to Plaza Fiesta where they were 2 of only about 25 kids in the entire place! They had a blast and I got to actually relax a bit. Since it was so not busy I sat outside the fence at one of the tables and read a book and munched on some delicious churros.
Ava is down to her last 6 days of school. This week has been a "fun" week. Monday was Beach Day, yesterday was Special Crafts and Activities Centers, today is Splash Day (Ava was super excited to wear a swimsuit to school today), Thursday is Drop Everything and Read Day, Friday is Puzzle and Game Day, Monday is Craft Day, Tuesday is Friendship Day, and Wednesday is the Last Day of School! Ava's been excited with all these special days that are slightly out of the routine of normal days.
As for me, I'm torn between being happy that school is out and not-so-happy about it. It's going to be hard to keep the kids happy without their usual routine. Ava is accustomed to 7 hours of structure and routine Monday - Friday, summer will be a huge deviation from that. But I'm happy to not have to get up and keep her on track to be out the door at 8am as well. If CMS ever votes for year-round school I will be all for it!

tee hee...love that last picture :)
I feel the same way about school ending....excited about not having that morning rush, but I know Emily will miss the activity and structure. I can't believe how big our girls are getting!!! How are we old enough to have first graders?!
That last photo is really funny. :-)
Great pictures! Ava looks sooo happy!
