My girl

We got a call from Ava's teacher this afternoon. She sent Ava for a reading test today. It's a test that all first graders are given to assess their reading level. Since Ava is reading so well Mrs. Dey decided to send Ava down to take it too. Turns out our good little reader is reading at the level of a first-month 2nd grader! I knew Ava was ahead with her reading but I had no idea she was that much ahead!

There is one other girl in her class that was also tested today and she's at a very similar level to Ava. Mrs. Dey is going to have extra reading lessons with Ava and this other little girl 2-3 times a week. She'll pull them out of class for their special "book club" (the girls won't be told they're performing ahead, of course) and send them off with the teaching assistant while the rest of the class is doing other reading work.

It makes me proud as a mom even though I've had little to do with teaching her to read other than reading and providing "readers".
