Library stuff

I got a call from the library yesterday. When I first saw who it was I was hoping they were calling in regards to the 5 books they had listed on my account that I had already turned in. But no, it was the childrens librarian. When the kids finished the summer reading program I got to fill out a raffle card. They were calling to say Ava's name had been drawn! Actually other families had won first, but none claimed their prize so they moved on and drew more names.

Ava ended up winning 3 tickets to the Tweetsie Railroad! She is very excited and so are we! We've never been up there and I'll have to admit the price of admission has been a big factor in why we've never been. $30 and adult, and $22 each for the kids! That seems like an awful lot. But I'll happily pay $22 for one child while the rest of us go for free!

Now we've got to pick our weekend to go. We have to go in Sept or October.

And on the note of those 5 books. When we went to pick up our tickets I stopped by the check-out desk to tell them I'd already turned those books in. I'm very anal about keeping track of library books and I KNEW without a doubt that I had turned them in. The librarian instantly gave me attitude. She told me it occasionally happened with one book, but that it never happened with more than one, let alone 5. I simply told her again that I was 100% sure I had turned them in and that she needed to figure it out.

After a bit of grumbling to herself about how it never happens with 5 books she wrote the authors and titles down and told me I'd have to go see if they were on the shelves. I happily took the list and proceeded to pull all 5 of the shelves, no problem. I take them back up and she says that the library often has more than one copy of each book so she'd have to see if the numbers matched the books on my account... all said with much doubt in her tone.

All 5 books perfectly matched the ones on my account, of course. She instantly turned apologetic and said she was sorry about this numerous times. I just wish she could have given me the benefit of the doubt and been nicer during the whole process. I'm sure they hear from people all the time that they turned in books when they actually haven't just to avoid fines, but come on, you don't have to be rude about it.

Wow! We went to Tweetsie in June and had a blast. The "acting" is a bit cheezy, but it is super fun. We spent the entire day there. Bring your camera!!!

Way to stick up for yourself! I can do without grumpy people!

Emily also won 3 Tweetsie tickets from the library!!! So exciting! We're going the last weekend in September. Let us know if you're there at the same time :) I also need to get with you for pointers on things to do up there, since I know you just went recently. We've never been to the mountains. Email me if you have any "must see" places :) Congrats on winning!
