Passing the Summer Days Away

In an effort to pass some time and give the kids something new to do in the house on these hot summer days I climbed up into the hot attic today. After watching the kids destroy my couch every day in an effort to build some kind of fort out of the cushions I decided to make them a big box fort. All our moving boxes from moving here 7 years ago were just sitting up there in a huge pile.

I dug out a few big ones and a few small ones. The kids were quite intrigued by my tossing boxes down the attic steps. I got a roll of packing tape and went to work. None of the boxes were actually all that big so I had to break a couple apart to make a big interior area where they can sit up straight. Then I branched off in 2 directions adding smaller "rooms" and a couple entrances and windows. They think it's great. They even requested "delivery" for their lunches.

My only hope is that it will hold up and be enjoyable for this week and next until we go to the beach.

The fort...

Oh my gosh, Amy, they look so much older to me today. Ava is beautiful & Maddux is super cute! The fort looks awesome. What a great idea! Emma gets bored too and tells me about it, maybe I'll make a fort. Lol

Hope you're good babe. If you ever get over this way again we should hit up a park with the kids or something.

Good thinking, Amy. I used to love box forts when I was a kid.
