When Mom is Feeling Bad...

everything else goes bad too! The last several days I have been sick. Fever, aches, stuffy head, and a cough that just won't quit. Needless to say this mom hasn't been doing anything that wasn't absolutely necessary.

Today I woke up feeling reasonably human for the first time all week, though I still have a nagging cough and very little voice. As I came downstairs I saw with on-duty mom eyes just what a disaster my being sick had on the house. It's like a tornado went through my house! Legos and library books litter my family room floor, with a handful of used tissues in the mix too (Maddux's not mine). The study is a mess of kids art supplies and some sort of leaf litter that I suspect is from one of my houseplants. And the kitchen, my poor kitchen, there is a sink full of dirty dishes, a dishwasher full of clean dishes and my counters are piled high with mail, paper towels, and various kid snack wrappers (why they can't throw things away in the trash that is 2 steps away is beyond me). Oh, it also has, somewhere under the mess, Father's Day cards for the grandpa's... oops, guess they'll be getting them late this year. The back hall has scattered cat food. I asked the kids to feed the cats and they overfilled the bowls which resulted in cat food getting scattered about. I figure that at least is a self-cleaning mess as the cats will eventually eat it. :) The only room downstairs with any resembless of normal is the playroom. And it's a mess too, it's just that it's always a mess.

As I look around I almost wish I was still sick, just so I wouldn't have to tackle this mess. If my husband ever doubts what I do all day I think he's got a pretty good sense right now as it's pretty obvious I haven't been doing anything.

I need a magic cleaning wand. Anyone have one I can borrow?

Aww, I'm so sorry that you have been sick and now that you are on the mend you have a huge mess to deal with. If I lived closer I would come over and clean for you. Hang in there. HUG
