Stick a Fork in Me

I'm done! It has been a doozy of a week around here and the fun is still going on. Let me recap my week...
Monday: I start coughing. I don't really notice it much until Kevin points it out when he gets home from work. But I've been home with both kids (no school) and busy running errands and such. When I finally sit down and do nothing after dinner I realize just how much I'm coughing. Seems kind of odd.

Tuesday: wake up feeling like crud. I have a fever and my cough has gotten even worse. I get the kids ready and off to school and I crash on the couch until it's time to pick them up. I'm achy, have crazy chills, a wicked headache (which feels like it's going to split open when I cough, whic was almost constantly) and generally feel horrible.

Wednesday through Friday: all a blur. I spent my time between the couch and the bed. I kept track of time just enough to get the kids to and from school on time. The aches, chills, headache, fever and bad cough continue relentlessly. The fever was mostly right around 101, staying just under 100 with the help of Tylenol. I also lose my voice from all the coughing I guess.

Saturday & Sunday: start to feel a bit more human. My head still feels "off" though. I get dizzy when I stand up, but am feeling much better. Appetite is returning, fatigue is lifting. Cough is still pretty relentless, but the fever is below 100 without Tylenol. I think the weird head and dizziness feeling might have been caused by dehydration. Having a fever for 5 days has to take a toll on hydration and while I WAS drinking, I dont' think I was drinking as much as I probably should have been.

Monday: wake up feeling normal! Wow, I can function again! I'm still coughing, but I guess that might linger for awhile. My voice is also not quite back yet, but I'll take that just to feel ok again!

Although, given the state of my house I almost wish I could be out-of-it again! A week of dishes piling up (mostly cereal bowls and cups since I wasn't cooking), a week of no laundry getting done, even a litterbox that didn't get cleaned (oops!). It's going to take me a week just to catch up again.

And the kicker... Maddux and Kevin have come down with it as well. I took Maddux to the pediatrician. He was just sick with a fever and chills a week ago and I wanted to be sure this wasn't related to that. Who knows what it was then, but it's H1N1 now! Dr Smoak took my history of the illness as well and feels quite positive that we have H1N1. He's seeing a good bit of it right now. All you can do is stay home and rest and let it run it's course.

Maddux has done pretty well today. His fever is just around 100 and he hasn't complained of a headache. He started with fever, cough and headache on Saturday evening. Maybe he's going to kick it faster than I did. No matter though, I'm just glad he's feeling ok. We're taking the entire week off of preschool though regardless of fever though. I want his immune system to get back up strong before jumping back in the germ pool!

Kevin just started in on Monday, maybe Sunday. He's felt pretty bad today. He's staying home from work obviously, but he's not even working from home. He says he just can't concentrate and his head feels "funny". I understand completely.

And Ava seems to be escaping it all so far. I hope it bypasses her completely!

If you're driving by I recommend holding your breath as you go by our house! :) Hopefully we'll be fully functioning very soon!
