A Quick Check-in

We have survived the swine flu! Everyone is better. Well, except for me. I've been coughing since this whole thing started 2 1/2 weeks ago. It got a bit better, my energy levels went back up, but over the last few days it's gotten worse again. My energy is sapped, I get out-of-breath really quickly, I'm hoarse, I have a burning sensation in my chest and I get into huge coughing spasms that leave me dizzy. So, as my friend pointed out, if these symptoms were in one of the kids I would take them to the doctor.

I'm leaving for San Francisco in the morning and the last thing I want is to be sick out there so I squeezed in a trip to the doctor this afternoon. Turns out I have bronchitis. He's guessing based on the past H1N1 that this is the beginnings of a bacterial bronchitis which could worsen into pneumonia if left untreated. He gave me a prescription for a z-pack which will hopefully knock this out once and for all!

I also have some sinus issues going on, no surprise there since I always have sinus issues, but this time he said I have a polyp in my nose. Sounds gross. He said to follow-up on it with my normal physician and we'll go from there. I guess it's time for me to get back on some nasal corticosteroids. I hate taking them, but I certainly don't want polyps to become an issue!

I'm thankful the kids have made it through their illness so easily. Ava still has a bit of a cough, but it's getting better and it hasn't even been a full week for her.

I'm picking up my mom at the airport in just a little bit and then I'm off to SF in the morning! Wish me a smooth-sailing, cough-free flight and a weekend of normal energy please!
