Chutes and Ladders

Whew, I just finished a game of Chutes and Ladders with Ava that lasted over 15 minutes! Never has a game tried my patience so much. For the first 10 minutes neither one of us could get past the stupid slide on square 48. Over and over we landed on it.

Then in the last few minutes we both miraculously made it to the top. And then Ava, in the lead, lands on the big slide... you know, the one that take you almost all the way back to the beginning. Yeah, that didn't go over so well. Tears were on the brink. She didn't want to slide. My patience was already worn thin. I tell her she has to play it correctly. She says she wants to win. I say it doesn't always work that way and that everyone wants to win, you have to play it correctly or you can't play at all. I felt a bit bad, but seriously, we have an issue with Ava always wanting to win... she needs lessons in how to lose and how to play fair and by following the rules. So there's no more cheating in order to let her win or anything like that anymore. But I digress... she slides down the big slide and I end up winning the game in the next few turns. Ava then wants to play again, I said maybe later. My patience is had enough of Chutes and Ladders.

Seriously, this game is ridiculous! You could go around that board forever! And that big slide is just stupid. Who wants to get almost to the end to have to go all the way back to the beginning! I should have just let her spin again for a better chance, but we've been working on playing by the rules so I hated to give her an excuse to cheat.

Darn game!

I can't believe it took that long! Jacob always quits in the middle of the game if someone else pulls ahead. We are trying to teach him to finish what he starts..sometimes I'm glad he quits!!

Thanks for the Blog List idea!!!

i feel your pain amy!

when we play candyland, i will sometimes "plant" the candy cards in order so that no one has to go all the way back to the cookie, because i HATE that! that way the game just continues forward instead of the back and forth thing. chutes and ladders is a major bummer in our house too.

just wait til they're old enough for monopoly!!!

I've banned this game. It drives me nuts. We now love Monopoly Jr. Not near as frustrating. The only thing worse than Chutes and Ladders is Hi Ho Cherry Oh. Every time Emily flicks the spinner all of the cherries go flying all over. The worst.
